WHY CROSS TRAIN?

Many companies view cross training as a viable solution to employee absences.  Cross training staff does have valuable aspects such as: A better skilled workforce, continued work product, and even some cost savings.  However, it is easy to overlook the downside of covering for absences with existing staff.  Often workloads can be overwhelming and many times remaining staff will hesitate to communicate this challenge out of fear.  This may require overtime hours and employees can become frustrated, resulting in long-term reduced productivity.  A simple solution would be to arrange to have a temporary employee fill in.  Temporary employees are highly skilled individuals that learn quickly and they generally have more than enough experience to effectively complete any assignment.  In fact, in many cases it is more cost effective to hire a temporary employee when you consider all of the underlying factors.  Find out how Tri-Star Staffing can help with planned or unplanned absences.
